Neglecting Safety Among Causes Of Bus Accidents - Ong
KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 (Bernama) -- A lackadaisical attitude among bus operators concerning safety is one of the causes of bus accidents, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat. He said there were also some old buses which did not have their body frames strengthened in the interest of safety. "In the case of an accident, it can have serious repercussions as to the safety of passengers and other road users," he told reporters after launching the 'My New Village Stories' programme on pay television station, Astro, here Monday. Ong said this in commenting on the express bus tragedy at Km443 of the North-South Expressway near Rawang which claimed the lives of six people and left three people injured at dawn. He said the matter of bus accidents needed to viewed in a comprehensive manner including the subject of fatigue among drivers and also poor management by the operators. He also admitted that ineffective enforcement was also a contributor to bus accidents happening. On today's tragedy, Ong said the ministry was still waiting for the outcome of investigations being conducted by the Road Safety Department (JKJR) and Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros) before taking further action. The six killed were five passengers and one of two drivers of the AB Ekspres-owned bus that was carrying 34 passengers, including the three who were injured. The double-decker bus was on its way from Changlun, Kedah to Kuala Lumpur when it went out of control before hitting the road divider and overturning. -- BERNAMA
This is again after number of incidents...BUS ACCIDENTS...So sad seeing those who died.. are husband,father,fiance..returning back to Kuala Lumpur after meeting their loved ones far back in Kedah...And that their family member's had to accept the sad and dreadful news of sorrow after a happy and memorable time they spend together...Owh..i just can't imagine the feeling..
I'm off to Malacca this friday..and these incidents really make me sooo afraid to be on a bus..ya and adding the fact that i don't like buses actually..(ya..my ordinary transport is via car or plane..xkan nk naik smpan kot) Until i feel like..i'll not allow my loved ones...to be on a bus! ya but that of course that would be sooo unrealistic because sometimes thats the only option that they have...
But ya..talking of DEATH it can just happen anywhere,anytime at any place..u just not have to wait being on a bus to die! with ALLAH's will..he can just `take' it and make an`end' to it..The best is just by praying to Allah that HE would always be guarding us in safety..Despite, please my dearie pak cik bus..please do be careful n always think of the safety of the passengers first...Those people are loved ones of others and u know how it feels to lose someone u really love..
